Canyon Walls – Big Bend National Park, Texas

One of my favorite spots to photograph in Big Bend National Park is Santa Elena Canyon, a spectacular channel cut deep into the bedrock of the Chihuahuan Desert. The canyon walls rise over 1800 feet from the desert floor to overlook the Rio Grande and our southern border with Mexico.

Mule Ears Up Close – Big Bend National Park, Texas

Many of the best subjects in Big Bend National Park require the use of a wide angle lens but some, like Mule Ears, require a good hike, a telephoto lens or both. Whichever you choose, the view is definitely worth the extra effort.

Photographing Mule Ears

One of the best known and most widely photographed features of Big Bend National Park are the twin peaks of the Mule Ears, captured here along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. While not the tallest peaks in Big Bend, the Mule Ears are definitely one of the most interesting.
